    In 2001, Gauri moved to Mumbai and began working as a dancer and sex worker. However, she soon became involved in activism, working with the Humsafar Trust, a Mumbai-based LGBT+ organization. She has since become a prominent activist in her own right, advocating for the rights of transgender people in the country.

    Gauri is the founder of the Sakhi Char Chowghi Trust, an organization that provides support and advocacy for transgender individuals in Mumbai.     4. Sonal Giani

    Giani is the India program manager for the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), where she works to support the LGBT+ movement in the country and to promote the inclusion of LGBT+ rights in international human rights frameworks.

    In addition to her work with ILGA, Giani is a founding member of the Humsafar Trust, one of India’s oldest LGBT+ organizations.
