    A guru is a kind person, a wise person, and one of the best teachers. A quality guru should have all of these in addition to having a concept and approach to quality within the business that has made a big and lasting effect. So, Quality management is the process of managing the whole production to produce a brilliant (quality) product or service. Quality management is not a single canon derives from a particular person or idea. Rather it’s a collection of ideas with a core group of contributors famous as the Quality Gurus and best teachers.

    1.W. EDWARDS DEMING- Dr. W. Edwards Deming (1900–1993) is the most widely-recognized and significant of the Quality Gurus and one of best teachers. Further, Deming was a mathematical physicist. So, He uses mathematical concepts and tools to reduce variation, improve consistency, and prevent defects. His theory states that improvements in quality lead to reduction in costs and increase productivity because they result in less amendment, mistakes, delays, and better use of time and materials.

    With better quality and lower prices, businesses can achieve a greater market share and thus stay in competition, producing more jobs. Deming is famous for his fourteen principles for management. But he is also famous for the Seven Deadly Diseases and the Deming Cycle.

    2. DR. GENICHI TAGUCHI– Dr. Genichi Taguchi is a Japanese engineer and statistician who told the true meaning of product specification and how it transformes into cost-effective production. So, His assistance are in robust design in product development area. Further, The Taguchi Loss Function, the Taguchi Method, and other methodologies contribute in the reduction of variation and improve engineering quality and productivity.

    Taguchi was awarded the Deming Application prize, the Deming awards for literature on quality and the Willard F. Rockwell Medal by the International Technologies Institute.

    3.ARMAND V FEIGENBAUM- He was the discoverer of “total quality control”, often referred to as total quality. “An effective system for integrating quality development, quality maintenance and quality improvement efforts of the various groups within an organization. So as to enable production and service at the most economical levels that allow full customer satisfaction” is given by him.

    He saw it as a business method and proposed three steps to quality i.e. quality leadership, modern quality technology and organizational commitment.

    4.Dr KAORU ISHIKAWA- He made many contributions to quality, the most notable being his total quality viewpoint, companywide quality control. His importance on the human side of quality, the Ishikawa diagram. The assembly and usage of seven basic tools of quality. Further, He believed these seven tools should be known widely in an organization and used to analyze problems and develop solutions. When used together they form a powerful kit.

    5.PHILIP B CROSBY- Concepts of “Quality is Free” and “Zero Defects” are given by him. His quality improvement process is based on his four absolutes of quality which are qualities are in conformance to requirements, the system of quality is prevention, the performance standard is zero flaws and the measurement of quality is the price of non-conformity. Along with these he gave fourteen steps for quality improvement.
