“Poetry is the soul speaking in metaphors—sometimes tender, sometimes turbulent.”- Sanjeevani Srivastava
In a world that often rushes past emotions, teen author Sanjeevani Srivastava offers readers a pause—a chance to breathe, reflect, and feel deeply. Her debut poetry collection, “7 Hearts & 3 Verses“, is more than just a book—it’s a soulful journey of emotions, identity, and introspection. At just a young age, Sanjeevani has proven that age is no barrier to creativity.
We sat down with the young poet to explore her writing process, inspirations, and how she crafted a world of words that resonate with readers of all ages.
Question 1: Sanjeevani, congratulations on your debut poetry book! How does it feel to be a published author?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
Thank you! It feels surreal and deeply fulfilling. Holding the book in my hands felt like touching a piece of my soul. I still can’t believe my thoughts are out in the world now.
Question 2: The title “7 Hearts & 3 Verses” is very intriguing. What’s the story behind it?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
Each “heart” in the book represents a different emotional layer or phase of life—love, loss, hope, fear, and so on. The “3 Verses” reflect the poetic sections that bind these emotions. It’s symbolic of complexity within simplicity.
Question 3: What inspired you to write poetry at such a young age?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
Poetry has always been my way of understanding the world. Whether it was a quiet moment or a loud emotion, I’d find myself writing it down in verse. It began as self-expression and slowly became a passion.
Question 4: When did you first start writing poems?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
I started scribbling poems in my diary when I was around 11 or 12. They were raw and messy, but that’s where the journey began.
Question 5: Who are some poets or authors that influenced your writing style?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
I deeply admire Rupi Kaur for her minimalism, Emily Dickinson for emotional depth, and Lang Leav for her modern romanticism. Their styles helped me shape my own voice.
Question 6: How would you describe your poetry style in this book?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
My poetry is introspective, free-flowing, and emotionally driven. I prefer free verse and metaphors that evoke thought and emotion rather than follow a fixed structure.
Question 7: What themes can readers expect to explore in “7 Hearts & 3 Verses”?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
Readers will journey through themes like self-love, heartbreak, nostalgia, mental health, inner strength, hope, and the confusion of growing up. It’s emotionally layered.
Question 8: Was it difficult to put your personal feelings into words and share them publicly?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
Yes, definitely. Some poems felt like private journal entries. But I reminded myself that someone out there might need these words as much as I did.
Question 9: What message do you hope readers take away from your book?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
That it’s okay to feel deeply. That poetry can be healing. And that vulnerability is strength, not weakness.
Question 10: Finally, in one sentence—what is “7 Hearts & 3 Verses” to you?
Answer by Ms. Sanjeevani:
It’s a fragment of my heart, offered in verses, hoping to echo within someone else’s.
